Admission
Admission Application
Parents/Guardians who wish to enroll a child are invited to complete a Community of Peace Academy PreK-12 Application Form.
A general lottery will be conducted on February 5th, 2024 for each grade level where the number of enrollment applications received exceeds the number of openings for the Fall. Preference for enrollment is given to a sibling of an enrolled student and to a foster child of that pupil’s parents. Secondary preference for enrollment is given to enrolling children of the school’s staff.
A completed enrollment application must be received by February 1st, 2024 to be included in the lottery.
Acceptance
If your child is accepted, CPA will notify you by mail. Following notification of acceptance you will be asked to complete registration materials. If your child is not accepted, you will be notified by mail of your student’s status on the wait list for his or her grade. Wait list status is determined sequentially by lottery number. As openings become available during the school year, applicants will be accepted by their placement on the wait list.
Placement
Upon receipt of completed registration information and prior school records, the school will place your child in the appropriate grade level.
High School Transfer Students
Transfer requests for high school students must be submitted before the first 10 school days of each semester. Students accepted after after the first 10 school days will not be placed until the start of the following semester. Grade level placement for High School transfer students will be based on credit status as determined by the student’s transcript.
Special Education and Section 504
If your child receives special education and has an IEP, or if your student has a 504 plan, a staff member will contact you to arrange a meeting to determine the appropriate services and placement for your child based on that child’s IEP or 504 Plan.
Community of Peace Academy does not limit or restrict enrollment based on a student’s physical or mental ability or aptitude, disability or receipt of services pursuant to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) or Section 504 of the rehabilitation act of 1973 (Section 504).
