CPA's Spring Concert & Annual Meeting will take place on Thursday May 15 at 6pm in the RGA, and we hope you can join us!
We will see artwork created by CPA students and enjoy beautiful performances from CPA 3rd & 4th graders as well as high school students. We will also conduct our annual business, including electing new members to the Board of Directors (see candidate bios below). See you there!
CPA Board of Directors Candidates:
Parent - Tekeshia Merriman-Lewis
Hello! My name is Tekeshia Merriman-Lewis, and I am interested in being on the CPA Board. I am a Community of Peace Academy Alumni, Class of 2015. I have worked in Early Childhood Education for the past 8 years and have now moved on to becoming a Community Outreach Perinatal Educator and Doula. I am a mother of three; I have a daughter, Zola, who will go into 1st grade next year! Being on the board would mean that I have an opportunity to make a difference in my daughter’s school and know that she is getting the best educational experience. As a parent, I am thrilled to have all of my children experience Community of Peace Academy. I know that I can bring a fresh parental point of view to the board and know from a teacher’s perspective on what might be best regarding the topics addressed. I look forward to learning new things and getting more involved in CPA. I hope to gain connections as well; it takes a village!
Community Member - Judy Thompson
Hello. My name is Judy Thompson. I served as the school nurse at CPA for 27 years, from when CPA opened in 1995 until 2022 when I retired. I always felt it was a privilege to work at CPA because the school and staff intentionally teach important character values. I was involved in all things health-related and started and led the annual Walk/Run, developed "Tiger Fitness," and helped coach "Girls on the Run." I was a member of the Health and Safety Committee and the Facility Committee. I would bring to the board a deep understanding of CPA's history, mission and values, and much enthusiasm as CPA holds a special place in my heart.
Teacher – Yerri Xiong
Greetings! My name is Yerri Xiong. I grew up with CPA's core values and mission. I am a CPA graduate and have worked at CPA for four years. During my years at CPA, I taught high school math and personal finance, served as a co-advisor for the student council, and co-led Model United Nations. I have a strong background in finance and accounting and teaching and leading experiences. My knowledge of CPA and commitment to its core values and mission make me a valuable asset to the Board. I'm excited about this opportunity to serve.
